UP TO $5,000 IN GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
Starter Company Plus is now accepting applications

Kingston, Ontario – September 27, 2021 – Kingston Economic Development Corporation announces that applications are now open for the last Starter Company Plus cohort of the year.

Starter Company Plus is offered through Kingston Economic Development Corporation with funding from the Government of Ontario. The program is designed to provide training for both new and existing business owners who are either launching a new venture or have been in business for less than five years. This is a competitive program that provides an opportunity to pitch for up to $5,000 to support business operations and growth.

“This program is designed to help both new and existing businesses flourish. Whether it’s an idea or an existing business looking to expand, this program offers entrepreneurs the financial support as well as coaching and mentorship needed to help a business succeed. We have seen businesses go through Starter Company Plus program to become a multimillion-dollar business. This is why we encourage entrepreneurs to apply, and we will be here to help guide them access key resources to help them grow,” says Norman Musengimana, Busines Development Manager, Small Business & Entrepreneurship.

Successful applicants into the fall cohort will be required to participate in a weeklong virtual business bootcamp, where they will receive valuable insights into business start-up and expansion as well as business plan templates such as cash flow projections and business plans. Entrepreneurs then will pitch to a panel of judges for funding up to $5,000 to support their business.

The business training will be facilitated by Andrew Patricio, owner and founder of BizLaunch, who has trained over 100,000 entrepreneurs worldwide. They also work with small business owners who are thinking about starting a business, preparing to launch or currently running one.

“As a result of participating in the program, we have been able to: write a detailed business plan, adopt an effective marketing strategy that we otherwise would not have been able to execute, purchase equipment and tools needed to carry out business operations, finalize required legal documentation, make connections with other business owners, and most importantly, fill knowledge gaps,” says Teagan McLaren, Founder and CEO of YGK Takeaway. “I encourage entrepreneurs within the Kingston community to participate in the program because funding aside, the personal support and comprehensive knowledge you acquire from the program is invaluable to not only starting a business but maintaining it as well.”

Spots are limited and applications are open till October 10. To learn more about Starter Company Plus and how to apply visit KingstonEcDev.com/StarterCompanyPlus
