HELPING KINGSTON COMPANIES ACCESS INTERNATIONAL MARKETS
The Trade Accelerator Program

Kingston, Ontario – March 22, 2021 – The Trade Accelerator Program (TAP) is an initiative designed to accelerate the development of businesses and to better prepare them for expansion into international markets. 

In partnership with the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Kingston Economic Development will be offering a multi-sector TAP cohort which allows for inclusion of manufacturing, food & beverage producers/retailers, health sciences, technology, service-related businesses and to advance their export development plans to the next level.

TAP is a one-stop-shop that will get businesses ready to go global or review and expand their exports, culminating with a customized plan carefully vetted by top industry experts. The program will be delivered virtually between May 26 and June 24. The program has seen 33% average growth in export sales after 1 year, 71% of participants have entered new markets, and 90% declared themselves better prepared for international business.

For the first time offered in Kingston, this program will help local businesses learn from top industry experts, many of whom represent Federal or Provincial agencies that are directly involved with regional export support. This education and mentorship component is geared to provide them with the necessary tools needed to build a personalized export strategy and equip them with the resources to find success as they grow their business.

Eligible businesses must be in operation for two or more years, is generating approximately $500k in annual revenue, or has a proven track record of sustainable business growth and looking to bootstrap their export plans.
