Online webinar aimed to help small and medium-sized businesses navigate government programs related to COVID-19

The City of Kingston in partnership with Kingston Economic Development Corporation (Kingston EcDev) and KPMG LLP will host a free online webinar aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses navigate government programs related to COVID-19.

The webinar will cover the following:

  • Current federal and provincial government programs available for businesses.
  • How these programs interact, and how to make them work for you.
  • Practical examples to illustrate program criteria and navigation.
  • Your questions! Attendees should come prepared to ask questions about current programs.

"If you’ve never applied for a government program, or haven’t done so in a long time, it can be overwhelming, especially now, when so many programs are becoming available,” says Desiree Kennedy, the City’s Chief Financial Officer and City Treasurer.

“By bringing experts from Kingston Economic Development Corporation and KPMG together, we're hoping to support our business community as they move into the recovery phase,” she adds.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many of Kingston’s businesses to take immediate action to protect their staff and their customer base. As they adjust to a new social and economic environment, the City, Kingston EcDev and KPMG are joining forces to support the recovery process.

“With this new partnership, we hope Kingston businesses will benefit from programs offered by different levels of government to help keep their doors open as we head towards economic recovery,” says Donna Gillespie, CEO of Kingston Economic Development Corporation.

Attendees will hear from Jonathan Warren and Lori Huber from KPMG’s office in Kingston, and will be able to ask these Tax and Audit Professionals their most pressing questions.

Says Huber, “We know many local businesses are trying to make sense of the various programs. We are happy to help the great businesses of Kingston navigate the federal and provincial government programs to understand how they can benefit from them and be resilient in this new world.”

Titled, COVID-19: Navigating our new world, this informative and interactive online session will be held on Tuesday, May 26 at 12 p.m. Register now to receive more details about the webinar.
