SUPPORTING BUSINESS GROWTH AND RECOVERY WITH A NETWORK OF EXPERTS

Kingston Economic Development receives $32,000 to support local small businesses

Kingston, Ontario, July 8, 2021 — Kingston Economic Development received additional funding from the Province of Ontario to assist small business owners that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 through Ask the Expert program.

The Province of Ontario is providing $2,040,000 to support Ontario's 47 Small Business Enterprise Centres to create a new Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Network. This network will enhance the capacity of all 47 centres, which Kingston Economic Development manages one of. This funding helps Small Business Enterprise Centres across Ontario to expand their services and further support businesses in their respective communities, cities and counties.

The funding is being used to provide a Recovery Program that offers business planning and coaching, as well as, one on one time with a local specialist to assist small businesses in planning for the future.

Small business owners can access one-on-one time with an expert for no charge. To be eligible the business is registered as a Sole Proprietor, General Partnership or Corporation with 1 to 5 employees. The business needs to be currently operating, earning some revenue and affected by COVID-19.

Businesses can get help from industry experts on specific questions related to accounting, legal, social media, human resources, business planning, sales and marketing.

“This program benefits business owners as they navigate reopening strategies at no cost,” says Norman Musengimana, Manager, Small Business & Entrepreneurship. “We encourage the business community to reach out to Kingston Economic Development with their questions so that we can work with the network of experts to support their businesses’ growth and recovery.”
